Car Insurance Volkswagen (Car Insurance). Getting my second car, possibly an old volvo?

Getting my second car, possibly an old volvo? Hello, so I am 19 years old, and I was in a terrible car accident on 4-20-2011 this year. I was not paying attention and I somehow got into the worst car accident I have ever been in. I hit one car so hard that they hit the car in front of them. Long story short everyone had minor injuries, and the two cars were just a little beat up, mine was totaled. That first car of mine was a 2002 Toyota Corolla, 4 door, automatic, she was my love. I had her for a little over 4 months, and now she is gone :( Anyways now about 2 weeks later I am taking care of all of my insurance things and getting my car loan taken care of. The point is I have learned my lesson from driving, and I seriously need a new car in order to get to work. So I think I found the perfect one. Tell me if it is a good car. She is a 1989 Volvo 240 DL Wagon, she is an automatic, she has 140k miles on her, beautiful burnt orange/red color, in fantastic shape, and has leather seats and a CD player. She is only $2,500. I am seriously considering buying her. Please do not judge me on my car accident. Please just tell me if this is a good second car? Thanks.

1st of all Rolando, you don't seem to know too much on the Volvo. There is a red 1967 Volvo out there with 2 million miles and running strong, so it may be surprising for you to hear a Volvo runs 140000 miles eh? Otherwise Rolando got it straight on the money. I although personally think the 1989 era Volvo's were pretty ugly/boxy looking, but they are like tanks all steel, and fully loaded too considering the year. But if you do buy a Volvo remember this, since they are stacked in the same genre as the "Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Volvo" class, if something does break, expect to pay through the nose getting it fixed properly. They are such good cars you won't find too many of them in junk yards for the possible spare part if needed, as well as not too many mechanics want to mess with them, unless they are Volvo certified. If I were you, I would look up a few years newer, like maybe the 1995-1997 range, they are still original Volvo, and look sportier than the old 80's era Volvo. Plus a 1997 Volvo 850 with the B23425T engine does under normal driving conditions and with a tuneup about 18 mpg city and 25mpg highway, the old 80's versions are more like 15 mpg city and 22 highway. If you want peppy you have peppy, the "T" in the engine designation stands for TURBO. Volvo uses a low spooling turbo charger to send more power to the engine when needed, so if you need to get out of people's way in a hurry, the car will suffice. Handling on all weather radials are exceptionally well. And you can add snow tires if need be for that extra traction in the winter. Some 1997 Volo's have the sport suspension option as well as the 3 stage economy, sport, winter mode on the transmission. So overall Volvo will be a great choice. And she is VERY SAFE!!! volvos are safe. not fun cars, they have side impact protection in the doors long before many other car makers Hi , VOLVOS R EXTREMELY SAFE the main safety that makes one car company different from another is the type of metal and how much etc etc they used of it. Volvo is one of the best i can assure you if you did get in another accident (i hope you dont and i hope your ok and recovered) your car wont be totaled. Now milage side its kind of alot... Also the year of the volvo you have to take into consideration, the parts are more than 20years old... the fact that its still running is surprising.

Looking for a Duel Sport Motorcycle? I recently began talking to someone who is selling his duel sport motorcycle. He has a Harley now and is selling his duel sport for a low price. He told me that it is a 1989 Yamaha XT 650. I have not actually spoken face to face with the man and have not seen the bike. I have looked all over google and I can not find a picture of the exact model he is selling. Does he perhaps have the specifications messed up or am I just not looking hard enough? car insurance.

Volkswagen . Getting rid of swirl marks on a dark car?

Getting rid of swirl marks on a dark car? I've handwashed only since I've had my burgundy Benz for about 7 years. This winter, once, I used the brush (lightly) at a car wash. Sure enough, I've got swirl marks from that crappy brush. Anyway, twice a year I use a cleaner wax, a polish glaze and then a sealer wax. Im due to do it and will probably do so this weekend. Im tempted to use a rubbing compound first to smooth out the swirls. On the other hand, I'm also thinking that maybe my typical 3 step process of the cleaner wax, polish and sealer will take care of it and smooth out the swirl marks for good. I'm sure it will fill them in temporarily, but was wondering if a rubbing compound or something else would smooth things out better and get rid of the swirls. Also, if it helps I am only doing it by hand and not using an orbital buffer. car insurance.

Volkswagen . Oil Debris Analysis

Engine oil is a complex product with many jobs. Its main task is to lubricate the engine, minimizing friction and wear between moving parts. Oil also cools the engine, keeps it clean, and helps to prevent corrosion. Used engine oil carries suspended wear debris and contaminants and evidence of oil additive breakdown. Oil analysis is the examination of the properties and contents of used oil in order to diagnose the health of the engine.
Oil Debris
As surfaces rub together, friction between those surfaces causes them to wear. Minute particles of the surface materials are removed from the surfaces. Larger particles are trapped by the oil filter, but smaller particles become suspended in the lubricating oil.

Oil debris analysis uses instruments such as the spectrograph to identify the type and concentration of particles in the oil, including copper, iron, chromium, lead, tin, aluminum, molybdenum, silicon and sodium.

By monitoring the results of the analysis over time, it is possible to identify trends such as sudden increases in the concentration of particular elements that may indicate the impending failure of a component.
Oil Contamination
Engine combustion creates by-products such as soot and sulfur compounds. Oil analysis can identify other contaminants also.

Glycol (antifreeze), fuel, and water can all leak past seals and contaminate the oil, reacting with the oil's additives to reduce their effectiveness.

Fuel dilutes the oil, lowering its viscosity and accelerating wear.

Water accentuates the actions of acids in the oil, increasing the risk of corrosion. Excessive water contamination can create a buildup of oil sludge that can block oilways, possibly causing sudden failures due to lack of lubrication.
Oil Additives
Engine oil contains additives that help the oil to perform well and increase its life. For example, additives help to neutralize acids produced by a cold-running engine, to reduce oxidation in the oil and to maintain the viscosity of the oil in use.

Analysis of the performance of these additives over time can help to indicate where one particular additive may break down while the oil is otherwise still effective. In these cases, it may be possible to add fresh additive to the oil rather than change the oil, a procedure known as "oil sweetening."
Significance
It's clear that an effective oil analysis program is important for both safety and economic reasons.

Analysis can indicate accelerated wear and actual component failures such as fuel and water seals. Increased debris levels in the oil may forecast impending component failures.

Oil analysis offers direct evidence of the effective life of oil and of individual oil additives, enabling businesses to set oil change intervals based on data rather than guesswork. If a particular additive is breaking down before the oil otherwise loses its effectiveness, the addition of fresh additive to "sweeten" the oil can be more cost-effective than changing the oil.
Considerations
To be most effective, oil analysis depends upon the accurate interpretation of results. It is easy for an analyst to jump to incorrect conclusions if they are not aware of all the variables that can affect the oil sample, such as the type of equipment the oil sample is from, the current life of the equipment, any maintenance or component replacements that have occurred since the last analysis, the work environment, and so on.

The SACODE program is a typical systematic analysis program, where "SA" represents basic oil properties, "CO" represents oil contaminants, and "DE" represents oil debris. The program methodology takes an analyst through a checklist that helps to identify all the conditions that may impact the analysis.

Volkswagen . How to Fix a Bad Oil Seal

Changing your oil frequently is crucial to proper car maintenance. With repeated changing, however, comes wear and tear on parts. A cracked or leaking oil seal is one such instance. The oil seal prevents oil from leaking out of the engine and depleting your vehicle's oil levels. Replacing a bad seal is the only way to repair the problem. If you have experience changing your car's oil and filter, you can easily replace a faulty oil seal.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Filter wrench
Oil seal
New motor oil
Oil pan

Step by Step :
1
Place an oil pan under the drain plug and remove the plug. Allow all the oil to drain completely.
2
Locate the oil filter. The filter is usually found near the the area of the engine where the oil is stored. It can be under or on the side of this area. Oil filters are generally light-colored, as in yellow or white.
3
Remove the oil filter by using a filter wrench. Most cars use spin-on oil filters that screw into place. A filter wrench will fit around the entire filter and help to loosen it for removal. Be mindful that the oil filter will be full of oil. Carefully turn the oil filter upside and allow it to drain in the oil pan.
4
Remove the seal from the top of the filter and place the new seal on the filter. Rub new oil on the seal to moisten the material.
5
Screw the filter back into place and re-attach the drain plug.
6
Refill the oil in your engine by placing a funnel in the oil tube under the hood of the car and pouring the oil into the tube.

Keeping your engine clean • Cleaning your vehicle's interior J\ car is more than a collection of parts and systems. When you drive v \ your vehicle or try to trade it in or sell it, it's judged on its appearance as well as its performance. Contrary to popular belief, the main reason for washing your car often and keeping a good coat of wax on it is not to keep it looking good, but to wash away the salt, mud, and chemical-laden dust and dirt that provide breeding grounds for rust and accelerate paint deterioration. If you don't care how your car looks and intend to drive the same machine until it spontaneously destructs like the "Wonderful One-Horse Shay" (which, according to the poem, ran perfectly for 100 years and then abruptly ceased to exist when everything failed at once), consider this: After years of driving and restoring cars, I've found that clean vehicles run better! After all, humans, plants, and animals respond to being kept clean and cared for, so why shouldn't your car? And if you think that a vehicle is an insensitive object, you haven't been reading this book very carefully. At any rate, why not try it and see? All it costs you is a little elbow grease and a few soap bubbles. li 7 0 Part V: He|Ping Your Car Look lts Best Cleaning the Exterior

do-it-yourself car washes and use its facilities. The steamy hoses keep both you and your car warm enough to wash away the mud and salt in the winter and can do an even better job than you could do at home, especially if your water pressure is low. Most people think that there's nothing special to know about washing a car, but this isn't the case. Doing the job efficiently saves you time and effort and the car comes out looking great. If you work in a haphazard way, the task takes much longer, and you run the risk of scratching the finish, streaking the surface, and leaving the body vulnerable to rust.
